We are seeking an experienced and motivated Assistant Manager – Vocational to join the education team at HMP Brixton. In this key leadership role, you will support the Education Manager in the effective delivery and management of the vocational curriculum, ensuring it meets the needs of both learners and employers. You will focus on driving quality, performance, and innovation, helping to raise standards and improve outcomes across the provision.

Prison education plays a vital role in rehabilitation, helping individuals develop the skills, knowledge, and behaviours needed to successfully reintegrate into society and secure employment. Key Responsibilities
  • Support the Education Manager with curriculum planning and delivery
  • Lead on quality assurance and continuous improvement
  • Drive innovation in teaching, learning, and assessment practices
  • Manage and support teaching staff to improve performance and outcomes
  • Monitor KPIs, learner progress, and achievement rates
  • Ensure curriculum meets employer needs and labour market demands
  • Contribute to self‑assessment (SAR), quality improvement planning (QIP), and Ofsted readiness
What We’re Looking For
  • Recognised teaching qualification (minimum Level 4 or above)
  • Significant experience in teaching and education delivery
  • Proven experience in curriculum management and development
  • Strong background in quality assurance and improvement processes
  • Experience managing or supporting teaching staff performance
  • Ability to meet targets and drive high standards
  • Full UK driving licence and access to your own transport is essential
