About the Opportunities
We work in partnership with independent specialist further education providers supporting young people with learning disabilities and difficulties across Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire, and South Yorkshire. These providers deliver highly personalised programmes across educational and lifelong learning pathways, tailored to each learner’s individual needs, aspirations, and outcomes. We are currently building a pool of experienced Learning Support Assistants (LSAs) to support upcoming and ongoing opportunities across these settings. This is ideal for LSAs looking for temporary or permanent work, varied environments, and the opportunity to make a meaningful impact in specialist education.
The Role
Learning Support Assistants support learners on a 1:1 and group basis, helping them make progress in line with individual support plans, learner targets, and planned outcomes. You will work closely with Tutors and wider support teams to motivate and engage learners in a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment, both within college settings and, where required, in external work environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Providing 1:1 and small group support across educational and lifelong learning pathways
- Working collaboratively with Tutors to deliver high-quality learning experiences
- Recording and contributing to the evaluation of learner progress and achievement
- Supporting learners in external work placements to promote independence and employability
- Supporting learners with challenging behaviour and implementing positive behaviour strategies
- Assisting Tutors with the preparation of learning resources and session materials
- Supporting learners during breaktimes and encouraging participation in enrichment activities
- Ensuring safe and efficient arrival and departure to/from college, maintaining learner health and wellbeing
- Delivering personal care where required, while promoting independence at all times
- Acting as a positive role model and maintaining professional standards
- Working across different sites, sometimes at short notice
- Participating in training, observations, briefings, and quality improvement activities
Essential Experience & Requirements
- SEN / SEND experience is essential
- Full UK driving licence
- Willingness to use own vehicle
- Basic computer and record‑keeping skills
- A flexible, reliable, and learner‑centred approach
Desirable (or Willingness to Work Towards)
- Level 2 English and Maths
- Team Teach training
- Relevant, recent SEN or behaviour‑related training
