Hawthorn Academy is seeking an experienced and passionate Deputy Headteacher to join our leadership team. We are a nurturing and inclusive school for children aged 11-16 where every child is supported through their social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) challenge. Through strong relationships, compassionate staff, and a culture built on respect, teamwork and integrity, we create an environment where children can belong, flourish and thrive - both in school and beyond.

About The Role

  • Deputise for the Headteacher and lead the school when required.
  • Drive high-quality teaching and learning for pupils with complex SEND.
  • Support curriculum development, assessment, and staff coaching.
  • Act as Designated Safeguarding Lead, working with external agencies to keep pupils safe.
  • Contribute to strategic planning, school improvement, and staff wellbeing.
  • Build strong relationships with parents, governors, and the wider community.

  • Qualified Teacher Status and a degree.
  • Proven leadership experience and a strong teaching track record.
  • Expertise in SEND and inclusive education.
