Empower Futures!
The Literacy Intervention Support Worker plays a key role in improving literacy outcomes for pupils at Progress Arc - Billinge, supporting learners with a broad range of special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).
Working under the direction of the SENCO and in close partnership with teachers and the wider multidisciplinary team, the post holder will support the identification of individual literacy needs and deliver high-quality, evidence-informed interventions that enable pupils to develop their reading, writing and communication skills.
The role will support pupils with a diverse range of needs, which may include cognition and learning difficulties, autism, speech, language and communication needs (SLCN), dyslexia and other specific learning difficulties, social, emotional and mental health needs, and complex or overlapping SEND profiles.
The post holder will use assessment and intervention evidence to understand individual starting points, establish measurable targets, evaluate impact and ensure that successful strategies are transferred into classroom practice. Literacy intervention should support pupils to access and make progress through their wider curriculum rather than operate in isolation from it.
