Who are we looking for from you?

    Qualifications and Education Requirements
  • QTS/QTLS
  • Educated to degree level in a relevant subject with further postgraduate training such as PGCE or PGDE
  • NPQH/NPQSL (desirable)

Experience

  • Minimum of three years\’ successful leadership in a specialist environment for learners who present challenging behaviours
  • Minimum of three years\’ leadership of staff teams delivering academic or welfare provision
  • Substantive experience of self-evaluation and action planning procedures.
  • Experience of leading Ofsted inspections in a learning environment resulting in at least \’good\’ outcomes.
  • A minimum of three years\’ experience in managing staff, including all aspects of Human Resource related issues.
  • Classroom based experience as a teacher
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • An ability to manage a large and varied workload
  • An ability to motivate and inspire teams in a drive for improvement

  • A highly motivated, energetic, and enthusiastic person who is approachable and promotes positive relationships and has high expectations.
  • Ability to work cross agency and with parents/carers in, potentially, challenging circumstances
  • Proactive in approach, thinks ahead and anticipates and deals with issues without being prompted.
  • Collaborative team player, supportive of colleagues and committed to the organisation mission.
  • Working successfully in partnership with parents and referring partners.
  • Ofsted Inspection experience (non-association independent schools\’ framework – desirable)
  • Knowledge of equality of opportunity, safeguarding, child protection and inclusion issues and how they can be addressed effectively in schools with high levels of vulnerable children
  • The ability to swiftly identify and address issues and ensure all matters are followed up and closed off
  • To be able to communicate clearly, both orally and in writing, with a diverse range of audiences, including children, parents and carers, and colleagues
  • To be able to work effectively under pressure, to prioritise appropriately and to meet deadlines.
  • Experience in secondary leadership
  • Able to relate well to children and share their interests and enthusiasms.

More about the school you will work in
You\’ll be based at Progress Arc – Billinge School which has recently been taken over by The Progress Group. Formally known as Nugent House School, this is an exciting time to join us as we embark on a new chapter in the school\’s journey.
Our school has a maximum student capacity of 110 and situated across 4 buildings set within beautiful grounds and vast outdoor spaces. It includes spaces for vocational and academic learning as well as therapeutic support. We have Occupational Therapists on site, as well as colleagues who are trained to provide alternative therapies. Our strong teaching and support team are passionate about empowering our young people to achieve their unique potential, and that\’s just what you will help us to do. We aren\’t looking for professionals to just teach, but who can help to architect, motivative, empower and inspire, because we want every one of our young people to have the opportunities that they deserve.
