Progress Schools is part of The Progress Group, the Group is made up of six business units, each of which aspires to innovate, influence, and inspire others through high-quality and purposeful education and training. Progress Schools is a national group of 13 independent OFSTED-regulated schools.
At Progress Schools – Northampton, we support approximately 35 pupils on roll to ensure that we can provide ample opportunities for children who need a nurturing, encouraging and supportive environment, specifically for those who will reintegrate back into a mainstream setting. The school consists of a core team of the Head of School, up to seven teachers, and five support staff. Further support is also provided by regional and national staff, who work with a number of schools across our group.

What we are looking for:
Qualifications:
- Hold a teaching qualification (QTS/QTLS)
- NPQSL and/or NPQH (desirable)
- Degree or equivalent
- Maths and English to at least level 2
- Specialist teaching qualification in a chosen subject (desirable)
Management & Organization Skills:
- A highly motivated, energetic, and enthusiastic person who is approachable and promotes positive relationships and has high expectations. Ability to effectively manage student discipline and have a commitment to a high level of pastoral care
Partnership & Community Engagement:
- Proven experience working collaboratively with parents, community organizations, and stakeholders to support students with diverse and challenging needs.
Knowledge:
- Knowledge of equality of opportunity, safeguarding, child protection and inclusion issues and how they can be addressed effectively in schools with high levels of vulnerable children
Problem-Solving:
- Ability to quickly identify and address challenges faced by students, ensuring appropriate follow-up and support for their individual needs.
Communication:
- To be able to communicate clearly and persuasively, both orally and in writing, with a diverse range of audiences, including children, parents and carers, governors, and colleagues
Experience:
- Experience teaching across the secondary age range, with a proven track record as a creative and adaptabe Head of SEN who inspires and motivates students. Familiarity with virtual learning environments is desirable.
