As part of the Private Law team, you will advise on a wide range of complex matters, including wills and succession, inheritance tax, trusts, and probate. You will also work closely with our Wealth Management team to support mutual clients.
You will manage a varied caseload, meeting with clients to understand their needs, progressing matters efficiently, drafting tailored documentation, and liaising with other stakeholders. You will ensure accurate case management and full compliance with SRA and Firm standards, while building strong client relationships and contributing to the team's professional growth.
This role is on a hybrid basis and can be based out of our Leeds or Nottingham office.
Key responsibilities- Arrange and conduct meetings with new and existing clients to establish the necessary advice and services, based on the client’s needs.
- Arranging and attending further client meetings where necessary to progress with the case and finalise documentation.
- Taking and acting upon client instructions.
- Instructing barristers or specialist advocates to appear in court for the client in complex disputes.
- Corresponding with clients and opposing solicitors where necessary.
- Advising clients on the law and legal issues relating to their cases.
- Drafting of documents, letters and contracts tailored to the client’s individual needs.
- Research and analyse documents and case law to ensure the accuracy of advice.
- Delivery of agreed billing and other targets in accordance with departmental and personal financial controls/budgets.
- Support the development and reputation of the Firm through external involvement in professional organisations and internal contribution at departmental and practice levels.
- Keeping up to date on legislative, regulatory, and client-related developments, changes, and trends.
- Adherence to the standards as set by the SRA and to all the Firm’s Policies and Procedures.
- Support the training and development of Trainee Solicitors and Paralegals.
- The consistent delivery of high-quality, value-adding and compliant legal advice.
- Effective relationships with clients that are built on trust and clear communication, in collaboration with internal stakeholders.
- Effective and timely management of multiple cases, ensuring accuracy in records and billing, with deadlines consistently met.
- 2-4yr PQE Solicitor or Chartered Legal Executive.
- Consistently deliver high-quality legal services through appropriate monitoring and management of own personal training and development.
- Ability to build and maintain excellent stakeholder relationships within all aspects of the business.
- Ability to always exercise discretion and professionalism.
- Work diligently and in good faith within the general working practices required of a qualified solicitor.
- Ability to work as part of a team, whilst being able to work efficiently on own initiative.
