Overview

The opportunity

As Progeny continues to evolve, we remain focused on expanding the ways we support clients and deliver flexible, high-quality advice.

This has led to the creation of our desk-based advice service, Progeny Compass.

This team will support clients with AUM expected to be between £150k and £400k, and/or less complex financial planning needs.

As a Financial Planner in the Progeny Compass team, you will be supported by colleagues in T&C, Compliance and Regional Management to assist you in providing effective financial planning for existing clients.

You will advise Progeny clients in line with FCA rules and company procedures, while maintaining Progeny’s high service standards.

It will be your responsibility to look after a client panel, book in annual reviews, work with the Client Executive to prepare for the meeting (held virtually via Teams where possible), carry out the meeting and follow up with any relevant recommendations.

This role offers a great opportunity to be a subject matter expert within your field, while expanding your knowledge and experience further. We can support you with:

Location

These roles offer a mixture of home and office based working, allowing you to balance your personal responsibilities/interests and connect with your colleagues.

What you will do

  • Prepare for and attend client meetings.
  • Prepare suitability reports for non-complex advice.
  • Be responsible for post-meeting actions including file notes, financial plans, and suitability reports.
  • Deliver financial plans and advice in accordance with Progeny’s regulatory standards and rules.
  • Provide and implement suitable private client (retail) financial advice to meet agreed activity targets.
  • Maintain professional working relationships with clients and attend client social activities.
  • Develop appropriate technical and market awareness knowledge.
  • Create cash flow models as part of the delivery of financial planning advice.
  • Comply with the requirements laid down in compliance and administrative policy and procedures.
  • Complete Continuous Professional Development to meet regulatory requirements and personal development needs.
  • Be able to advise own clients without direct supervision.
  • Always adhere to the firm’s certification regime and T&C scheme requirements.
  • Adhere to the Company’s business principles, high standard of ethics and treating customers fairly obligations.

About you

We are seeking someone with excellent client service experience, who possesses the Level 4 Diploma in Financial Planning, and can demonstrate their experience working within paraplanning as well as providing financial advisory solutions to clients.

The successful individual will be prepared to continue their studies to achieve Chartered Status should this not be currently held.

Qualifications

  • Diploma in Financial Planning.
  • Advanced Diploma in Financial Planning (desirable).

Experience

  • Proven experience in a paraplanning and a client facing advisory role.
  • Experienced in building and maintaining excellent client and internal relationships.
  • Experience of using cash flow modelling tools.
  • Experience of using research tools.
  • Knowledge
  • Excellent working knowledge of key areas of financial planning and advice including investment planning, pre/at retirement planning, personal and business protection; and estate planning.
  • Knowledge and understanding of FCA conduct of business rules and suitability requirements.

Skills and qualities

  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point etc.
  • Display a professional approach to work and colleagues, i. e. professional appearance, respect of individuals and ethical conduct.
  • Ability to work under pressure to deadlines, ensuring accuracy and high levels of attention to detail at all times.
  • Effectively manage projects and take ownership of assigned tasks.
  • Demonstrate strong analytical and research skills.
  • Actively seek to enhance own expertise and knowledge.
  • Demonstrate drive and commitment to self-development.
  • Ability to interpret complex planning and explain it clearly and concisely to clients and in reports.
  • Be able to understand and interpret a cash flow forecast and summarise the key points.
  • Ability to calculate figures and compile data.
