This is a part time, fixed term contract covering maternity leave ending December 2027, however, in an ever evolving business, there is scope for the role to become permanent.
What you’ll be doing:
- Month and Year end processes: You will collaborate with the acting Financial Manager to ensure all month and year end procedures are followed and completed to the highest standard.
- Journal Processing & Management Information: Assist in producing journals and prepare management information when required, giving timely responses to information requests through document preparation.
- Accounts Payable: Receiving invoices, assist with the upkeep of the purchase ledger and associated processes as well as collaborating on team member expenses.
- Accounts Receivable: When required, manage the invoicing and accounts receivable process, offering full support on all credit control efforts.
- Reconciliation: Perform bank and card reconciliation when needed including banking responsibilities with the confidence to make ad-hoc payments.
- Cash Flow: Have an eye on cash flow, highlighting any potential challenges and supporting all budget tracking activities.
- Payroll: Assist with weekly and monthly payroll processing and set up along with associated pension related admin as well as tracking and actioning internal referral payments.
- Admin Support: Collaborative inbox management, full compliance with all financial processes and procedures, digital record maintenance, GDPR compliance, ad-hoc support to all team members when needed. Deputise for fellow team members during periods of absence.
What are the person specifics for this role?
- Experience: although full support will be available, proven experience in a previous finance role is required due to the assistance required for month and year end processes.
- Qualification Specifics: A level 3 AAT qualification or equivalent in financial experience would be a minimum.
- Google/Excel: we predominantly use Google workplace but there is an overlap with Excel, so familiarity with both is an advantage.
- Accuracy: A high level of accuracy and attention to detail is a must, ensuring full compliance on financial processes.
- Prioritising: Experience in balancing a competing workload that adheres to strict deadlines, strong time management with great organisational skills.
- Confidentiality: Trust is an integral part of a finance role, along with a high level of confidentiality and discretion.
- Sage: Our accounting system is Sage, familiarity with this system would be an advantage but there will be full training and support available.
- A team player: as a small hub in an SME we are looking for someone who will contribute to our positive and supportive culture.

Working Specifics
This is a part time role, 22.5 hours per week covering 3 days with a compulsory Thursday and Friday with a Monday or Tuesday as the third day. 7.5 hours per day, however we can offer flexibility to cover less hours over 4 days. This can be discussed at the interview stage. There will be an element of hybrid working with 1 day working from home, but being in the office will be of great benefit in the beginning whilst you learn all about us, so whilst you are in your probationary period you will be required to be on site.
