The Company: The Production Training Company is an established provider of vocational training, with a track record of delivering expert content for industry leaders including the BBC, ITV, Netflix, and major funding bodies like ScreenSkills and The Production Guild of Great Britain.
We are currently pivoting to a "learner-led" digital model, building a subscription platform that allows freelancers to choose their own training on-demand, recognising that no two career paths result in the same knowledge gaps. The website (currently under construction) will be re-launched over the next few weeks and will be expanded over the next year to a full service. Alongside this, we are launching a series of books covering the production process.
Starting with the Production Office Department, we have a clear roadmap to expand into other operations and logistics departments and sectors of the industry. We intend to provide freelance workers in a precarious career with control and choice over what training support they receive. Our audience competes with a level of professional instability and a cultural expectation that they will need minimal training at work. We aim to run an easy, flexible and low-cost (and where possible no-cost) resource that will provide knowledge and confidence to our clients and participants.
Simultaneously, we will be seeking tenders for continued face-to-face training as well as bidding for resource and content creation projects, building on what has already become a successful and valued asset to the Film and TV training sector.
I am looking for a Project & Funding Manager based in/within commuting distance from the Calder Valley to manage the funding and delivery of existing services and exploration of new opportunities. You do not need to be from the Film & TV industry or have a background in training or education; I would like the successful candidate to feel that they are contributing to the direction of the business by identifying new concepts and curating a slate of exciting new potential projects to add to what has already been developed.
This is in the spirit of the company ethos and the standards that will be emphasised in all training that is delivered.
While the role is currently home-based, it is a local partnership; Some attendance at meetings and during events will be required but even when offices are taken, I would be happy for the role to continue to include a considerable amount of home working if desired while welcoming more attendance where possible. It will require a level of autonomy, self-management and entrepreneurial thinking. Also providing your own input into what projects should be applied for and why they would suit our brand. This will require creativity, strong opinions and alignment with the company’s culture.
Project Management: Financial & Audit Management: Managing budgets, monitoring cashflow during live projects, and acting as the lead contact for fund managers during audits. (You will not be required to complete accountancy responsibilities such as payroll and tax returns.) You will be helping to ensure that the outgoing services/delivery of tendered projects complement and align with the in-house products on the digital and print platforms.
No specialist computer or technical skills are required, but a high level of computer literacy is needed for use of Microsoft tools, email, google docs & sheets. Time will be allowed for familiarisation in other software if needed. This will include research and EOI/application writing.
Please indicate if you are applying on a PAYE, Freelance, or Contractor basis. Candidates invited to interview will receive a short phone call to discuss the role requirements in more detail in advance of any interview. Only to consider how you might make the role work for the company and also achieve a level of work/life balance for yourselves.
