Support migrant-led journalism with The Prisma, a bilingual newspaper created by immigrants for immigrants in the UK. Join our fundraising team and help defend independent media, Latin American migrant voices, and those of other communities. Now more than ever, ethical journalism led by and for immigrants is essential. By joining The Prisma’s fundraising team, you will help protect and sustain a unique, bilingual newspaper that has been the voice of Latin American and other migrant communities in the UK for 15 years. Your contribution will help us build vital connections with donors, institutions, and media allies who believe in independent, migrant-led journalism. You will play a key role in securing the resources needed to continue publishing real stories, investigative reports, and testimonies that challenge stereotypes, highlight injustices, and celebrate the achievements of immigrant communities. In a time of rising anti-immigration sentiment, your efforts will help defend the visibility and dignity of migrants in the UK media landscape. You’ll also support the recovery of archival material and the continuity of a platform that remains freely accessible to all. This is a critical moment for The Prisma. With your help, we can not only survive — we can grow, adapt, and begin to recognise, even symbolically, the invaluable contribution of our volunteers. You’ll be part of a multicultural team committed to truth, inclusion, and community — and your work will make a lasting difference for immigrant voices in the UK.

What are we looking for?

  • Experience in fundraising, communications, campaign coordination, or media outreach.
  • Strong writing skills in English (Spanish is a plus).
  • Confidence in reaching out to donors, institutions, and media contacts.
  • Ability to write letters, make calls, and follow up with potential supporters.
  • Strategic thinking and creativity in shaping campaign messaging.
  • Empathy, persistence, and patience — especially when campaigning gets challenging.
  • Initiative and teamwork, taking action and collaborating well.
  • A genuine interest in defending the rights of immigrants.

We especially welcome

  • Spanish-speaking candidates, as The Prisma is a bilingual newspaper created by and for immigrants.
  • People from migrant backgrounds or with lived experience of immigration.
  • Individuals who want to learn and grow while contributing to a meaningful cause.
  • Volunteers who can commit a few hours per week and are comfortable working remotely.

What will you be doing? The Prisma – The Multicultural Newspaper is a bilingual (English/Spanish) newspaper created by and for immigrants in the UK. It is a unique, ethical and non-profit media outlet, produced 100% by volunteers. As The Prisma turns 15, we are launching a major fundraising campaign to secure our future, and we need committed volunteers to help make it happen. This campaign is rooted in the voices of the Latin American community and other migrant diasporas settled in the UK, and we’re looking for people who want to help those voices be heard and supported. This is your chance to be part of something truly unique. We’re building a small team focused on donor outreach and media engagement. If you have experience in fundraising, communications, or campaign coordination — or simply the motivation to learn and support — we’d love to hear from you. Your role may include writing and sending letters to potential donors, reaching out to institutions, trade unions, and organisations that support immigrants, contacting media outlets and allies to raise visibility for the campaign, making calls or sending emails to supporters, supporting outreach through emails, calls, and follow-ups with potential donors, and helping us shape the strategy and tone of the campaign.

Time commitment: Approximately two days per week (or the equivalent hours spread across the week).

Good written English is required; Spanish is a plus. Spanish-speaking candidates with good English are warmly encouraged to apply. Experience in fundraising, donor engagement, or media outreach is ideal, but we also welcome those eager to learn and contribute. We welcome applicants from all backgrounds.

Why join us? Be part of a pioneering, unique, independent, bilingual newspaper created by and for immigrants in the UK. Support a project that has been the voice of Latin American migrants and other immigrant communities in the UK for 15 years.
