Priory Brooke House is looking to recruit a Waking Support Worker to join their team.
- Pay Rate: £12.60 per hour
- Part time: 30 hours a week (3 nights a week) 10pm to 8am.
Brooke House is located on a quiet street, near to Southampton city centre. The service offers 24-hour specialist residential support for nine males and females who are autistic or have a learning disability.
Our team are dedicated to encouraging people to develop their life skills, social confidence and empower them to be as independent as possible. Focusing on the unique strengths, wishes and aspirations of each individual, we want to develop person-centred plans tailored to achieving their desired outcomes.
It would be ideal if you have previous experience gained in a similar role. However whilst this is valuable, we are looking for individuals who display the right values and behaviours in order to make a difference to people’s lives. You should be keen to learn and show compassion to care for the people we support.
Responsibilities
You will be part of a compassionate team who are committed to our residents wellbeing. We take a personalised approach, using proven therapies to help people move forward with confidence and build a healthier, more fulfilling future.
Your positive attitude and passion for providing high quality care and support will be your key strengths, but you\’ll also have a friendly, patient and positive approach to work.
As a Waking Support Worker, you will assist qualified staff with the assessment and implementation of individual patient care plans, undertaking routine tasks and activities as directed or delegated to facilitate wellbeing, dignity and treatment of residents. You will provide support with day to day activities, whilst encouraging and promoting independent living. As part of our team, you’ll help people reach their potential, through both practical and emotional support, making a positive difference to their lives.
- Supporting with personal care tasks, such as washing, dressing, eating and personal care
- Performing light housekeeping tasks, such as dusting, vacuuming, and changing bed clothes
- Assisting with safe lifting, transferring, repositioning and movement of individuals
- Assistance and support to attend medical appointments
- Observe, monitor, and record physical and emotional well-being, and quickly report any changes to senior staff
- Supporting the development of important family connections and liaising with specialists, including Speech & Language Therapists and Learning Disability teams
- Encouraging participation in social and recreational activities that promote involvement and personal growth
