Wiggington Cottage is looking to recruit a Support Worker to join their team. This is a full time role, with hours of 36 hours per week on a rotating shift pattern to include working every other weekend. The pay is £12.60 per hour.

Wiggington Cottage is located in the heart of the beautiful village of Wiggington, in Tamworth, Staffordshire. Our specialist service provides residential support for eight people with a primary diagnosis of Prader-Willi syndrome (PWS). Our team is dedicated to improving the health and wellbeing of the people we support, helping them to achieve positive outcomes. We want to help each person we care for to have a healthy, happy, and independent life, within a safe and welcoming home.

It would be ideal if you have previous experience gained in a similar role. However, we are looking for individuals who display the right values and behaviours in order to make a difference to people’s lives. You should be keen to learn and show compassion to care for the people we support.

What you’ll be doing:

  • You will be part of a compassionate team who are committed to our residents' wellbeing.
  • Assist qualified staff with the assessment and implementation of individual patient care plans.
  • Undertake routine tasks and activities as directed or delegated to facilitate wellbeing, dignity and treatment of residents.
  • Provide support with day to day activities, whilst encouraging and promoting independent living.
  • Support with personal care tasks, such as washing, dressing, eating and personal care.
  • Perform light housekeeping tasks, such as dusting, vacuuming, and changing bed clothes.
  • Assist with safe lifting, transferring, repositioning and movement of individuals.
  • Provide assistance and support to attend medical appointments.
  • Observe, monitor, and record physical and emotional well-being, and quickly report any changes to senior staff.
  • Support the development of important family connections and liaise with specialists, including Speech & Language Therapists and Learning Disability teams.
  • Encourage participation in social and recreational activities that promote involvement and personal growth.
