Priory Princes Street is looking to recruit a Senior Support Worker to join their team.

Pay Rate: £13.20 per hour

Full time: 39 hours a week. 8am - 9pm, 10am - 10:30pm, sleep-in shift

Part-Time (Min 26 Hours a week)

Princes Street is located in Roath, near Cardiff. The home provides residential support with multidisciplinary team (MDT) input, for five males who have a learning disability and mental health needs. We are set in a lovely suburban area, close to shops and not far from the city centre.

Our home is dedicated to providing support and promoting independence in our residents' day-to-day lives, including with their daily living skills, budgeting skills and behavioural support. Our team are committed to providing the people we care for with a voice and a choice, ensuring involvement in their support.

It would be ideal if you have previous experience gained in a similar role. However, whilst this is valuable, we are looking for individuals who display the right values and behaviours in order to make a difference to people's lives. You should be keen to learn and show compassion to care for the people we support.

What you’ll be doing

You will be part of a compassionate team who are committed to our residents' wellbeing. We take a personalised approach, using proven therapies to help people move forward with confidence and build a healthier, more fulfilling future.

Your positive attitude and passion for providing high quality care and support will be your key strengths, but you’ll also have a friendly, patient and positive approach to work.

As a Senior Support Worker, you will assist qualified staff with the assessment and implementation of individual patient care plans, undertaking routine tasks and activities as directed or delegated to facilitate wellbeing, dignity and treatment of residents. You will provide support with day to day activities, whilst encouraging and promoting independent living. As part of our team, you’ll help people reach their potential, through both practical and emotional support, making a positive difference to their lives.

You will have gained experience in a similar setting, supervising and leading others. While a formal qualification is not required, you should be willing to complete a Level 3 qualification in Team leadership and management with Priory.

  • Supervise colleagues, lead team meetings and support your peers with their performance and professional development
  • Lead support planning and act as point of contact in the absence of site leadership
  • Assist with the management of site petty cash and client funds
  • Supporting with personal care tasks, such as washing, dressing, eating and personal care
  • Performing light housekeeping tasks, such as dusting, vacuuming, and changing bed clothes
  • Assisting with safe lifting, transferring, repositioning and movement of individuals
  • Assistance and support to attend medical appointments
  • Observe, monitor, and record physical and emotional well-being, and quickly report any changes to senior staff
  • Supporting the development of important family connections and liaising with specialists, including Speech & Language Therapists and Learning Disability teams
  • Encouraging participation in social and recreational activities that promote involvement and personal growth
