Overview
Priory St Brannocks is looking to recruit a Senior Support Worker to join their team. This is a full time Position.
Shifts: Various Shifts (Across 7 days)
£13.70 per hour
St Brannocks is located in New Romney, Kent. The residential service supports six people who have varied disabilities, including people who are on the autism spectrum. Our home is situated off a main road, less than 10 minutes’ walk to the town centre. Our team are dedicated to providing a safe and homely environment, where all the people we care for can make their own choices about the support they receive. We want to improve and positively impact on the lives of our residents.

As a Senior Support Worker, you will assist qualified staff with the assessment and implementation of individual patient care plans, undertaking routine tasks and activities as directed or delegated to facilitate wellbeing, dignity and treatment of residents. You will provide support with day to day activities, whilst encouraging and promoting independent living. As part of our team, you\\\’ll help people reach their potential, through both practical and emotional support, making a positive difference to their lives.
- Supervise colleagues, lead team meetings and support your peers with their performance and professional development
- Lead support planning and act as point of contact in the absence of site leadership
- Assist with the management of site petty cash and client funds
- Supporting with personal care tasks, such as washing, dressing, eating and personal care
- Performing light housekeeping tasks, such as dusting, vacuuming, and changing bed clothes
- Assisting with safe lifting, transferring, repositioning and movement of individuals
- Assistance and support to attend medical appointments
- Observe, monitor, and record physical and emotional well-being, and quickly report any changes to senior staff
- Supporting the development of important family connections and liaising with specialists, including Speech & Language Therapists and Learning Disability teams
- Encouraging participation in social and recreational activities that promote involvement and personal growth

Experience is essential for this role (a minimum of 6 -12 months)
Qualifications and Skills
- Previous experience in a similar setting
- Good numeracy skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills and a caring nature
- Empathy, understanding and patience
- Ability to work on your own and as part of a team
- Ability to understand and follow policies and procedure
- The ability to anticipate and respond to challenges
- Competent in verbal and written English
- A healthcare qualification is desirable, but not essential
