We are looking to recruit Senior Healthcare Assistants to join our team. This is a full-time role.
Salary: £27,277.00 per annum
Hours: 37.5 hours a week
Shifts: 7:30am - 8pm & 7:30pm - 8am (weekend work included)
Located in Edmonton, North London, Priory Hospital Enfield offers acute and secure services for adult males and females. We have two medium secure wards, one low secure and one acute ward. We offer specialist mental health care to people who are unwell and are considered to be unable to look after themselves in the community. We provide specialist assessment, treatment and care to patients with severe mental illness, complex needs and people who require an environment with security and safety.
It would be ideal if you have previous experience in a similar role. However, while this is valuable, we seek individuals who display the right values and behaviours to make a difference to people’s lives. You should be keen to learn and show compassion in caring for the people we support.
What you’ll be doing
- You will be part of a compassionate team committed to our patients’ wellbeing.
- As a Senior Healthcare Assistant, you will play a key part in the recovery, assisting qualified staff with assessment and implementation of individual patient care plans, undertaking routine tasks and activities as directed to facilitate wellbeing, dignity and treatment of patients.
- Provide practical support and responsive care to patients who require assistance with intimate personal needs such as dressing, bathing and toileting activities, ensuring such activities comply with procedures and relevant healthcare legislation.
- Observe and monitor the wellbeing of patients, ensuring that any unusual physical, mental or emotional occurrences are promptly referred to senior staff/the primary nurse and documented appropriately.
- Provide specific interventions with patients as delegated by a Registered Nurse and following training and competency attainment.
- Contribute to a team approach to patient care in conjunction with all members of the multidisciplinary team.
- Participate in regular ward meetings and attend other meetings as requested.
- Assist in maintaining stock levels, including pharmaceutical products.
- Assist in maintaining ward cleanliness and tidiness, and adhere to infection control policy and procedures at all times.
- Develop and maintain a good professional relationship with patients, colleagues and visitors, responding promptly and courteously to requests and enquiries.
- Help promote and maintain an environment conducive to meeting the needs of patients, relatives and carers.
- Ensure service users gain a quality service that is value for their money.
- Receive and convey information from telephone or personal enquiries in a courteous manner, ensuring all persons visiting the ward are greeted and assisted in a welcoming and supportive manner.
- Support the training of less experienced and new members of staff with their daily work and duties.
