Mather Fold House is looking to recruit a Support Worker to join their team.

Hours: Full-Time. Shifts: 8am - 10pm. Weekend work is included. Pay Rate: £13.20 per hour.

Mather Fold House is located in High Walton, a suburb of Preston. It offers residential support for six people, including autistic people and individuals with a learning disability. Our staff are dedicated to providing a safe and supportive environment, where individuals are fully involved in their care and support planning, in order to lead a more independent and fulfilling life. We want to improve the health and wellbeing of the people we care for, and are focused on achieving positive outcomes.

What you’ll be doing

You will be part of a compassionate team who are committed to our residents' wellbeing. We take a personalised approach, using proven therapies to help people move forward with confidence and build a healthier, more fulfilling future. Your positive attitude and passion for providing high quality care and support will be your key strengths, but you’ll also have a friendly, patient and positive approach to work.

As a Support Worker, you will assist qualified staff with the assessment and implementation of individual patient care plans, undertaking routine tasks and activities as directed or delegated to facilitate wellbeing, dignity and treatment of residents. You will provide support with day to day activities, whilst encouraging and promoting independent living. As part of our team, you’ll help people reach their potential, through both practical and emotional support, making a positive difference to their lives.

  • Supporting with personal care tasks, such as washing, dressing, eating and personal care
  • Performing light housekeeping tasks, such as dusting, vacuuming, and changing bed clothes
  • Assisting with safe lifting, transferring, repositioning and movement of individuals
  • Assistance and support to attend medical appointments
  • Observe, monitor, and record physical and emotional well-being, and quickly report any changes to senior staff
  • Supporting the development of important family connections and liaising with specialists, including Speech & Language Therapists and Learning Disability teams
  • Encouraging participation in social and recreational activities that promote involvement and personal growth

What you’ll bring to the role

Our work is rewarding but can be challenging, so resilience is key. No two days are the same! Your natural empathy will help you support others through both the highs and lows. As driving residents in the community will be a part of this role, the successful Support Worker will have a full UK driving licence and will have held this for 3+ years.
