Priory Hospital Kemple View is looking to recruit a Healthcare Assistant to join their team. This is a full-time position at 37.5 hours per week, including a mixture of day and night shifts - working 3-4 months of night shifts per year. Shift times will be Day Shift – 7:40 am – 8:00 pm / Night shift – 7:40 pm – 8:00 am. Weekend & Bank holiday work included. Shift Pattern – Rolling Rota – Week 1 – Monday/Tuesday/Friday/Saturday/Sunday & Week 2 – Wednesday/Thursday.
Located in Blackburn, Lancashire, Priory Hospital Kemple View is a 90‑bedded hospital, offering rehabilitation and recovery (R&R) and secure services for adult males. We support people with a mental health condition and/or a personality disorder. Our team works under the least restrictive practice principles in relation to managing risk, to ensure patients have a good quality of life.
It would be ideal if you have previous experience in a similar role. However, we are looking for individuals who display the right values and behaviours in order to make a difference to people’s lives. You should be keen to learn and show compassion to care for the people we support.
What you’ll be doing:
- You will be part of a compassionate team who are committed to our patients' wellbeing.
- Support our patients with in‑house activities and hobbies.
- Observe and monitor the wellbeing of patients ensuring that any unusual physical, mental or emotional occurrences are promptly referred to senior staff/the primary nurse and documented as appropriate.
- Provide specific interventions with patients as delegated by a Registered Nurse, and following training and competency attainment.
- Contribute to a team approach to patient care in conjunction with all members of the multidisciplinary team.
- Participate in regular ward meetings and attend other meetings as requested.
- Assist in the maintenance of stock levels, including pharmaceutical products.
- Assist in the maintenance of ward cleanliness and tidiness and adhere to infection control policy and procedures at all times.
- Develop and maintain a good professional relationship with patients, colleagues and visitors responding promptly and courteously to requests and enquiries.
- Help promote and maintain an environment conducive to meeting the needs of the patient/relatives and carers.
- Ensure service users are gaining a quality service that is value for their money.
- Receive and convey information from telephone or personal enquiries in a courteous manner and ensure all persons visiting the ward are greeted and assisted in a welcoming and supportive manner.
