We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic and passionate Nightshift Manager to join our Production team in Cramlington. The Nightshift Manager will be required to work a Nightshift, Monday to Friday. The Nightshift Manager is responsible for leading and coordinating all nightshift operations across print, finishing, and dispatch. This role ensures that jobs progress smoothly through every stage of production, meeting quality standards, delivery deadlines, and customer expectations. The Manager provides hands‑on leadership, ensures workflow accuracy, and maintains a safe, efficient, and productive work environment.
Annual Salary starts from ÂŁ38,000
Key Responsibilities
- Leadership & Team Management
- Lead and supervise nightshift teams across print, finishing, and dispatch departments.
- Allocate staff according to workload, skill level, and production priorities.
- Provide on‑the‑job training, and performance feedback to all shift staff.
- Promote a positive and accountable team culture.
- Manage attendance, timekeeping, and shift handovers.
- Production Planning & Workflow Coordination
- Coordinate all nightshift print, finishing, and dispatch activities to ensure smooth production flow.
- Review job tickets, schedules, and deadlines, ensuring capacity is managed effectively.
- Monitor job progress end‑to‑end, addressing bottlenecks and reallocating resources when needed.
- Communicate with day teams and management to ensure accurate shift handovers.
- Print Room Oversight
- Ensure print presses are set up correctly and operated according to safety and quality procedures.
- Help troubleshoot print issues and escalate machinery faults when necessary.
- Monitor print quality, colour accuracy, and material usage.
- Ensure print room cleanliness, material stock rotation, and logging of waste and consumables.
- Finishing Department Oversight
- Oversee operation of finishing equipment.
- Ensure jobs are finished to specification.
- Monitor staff on correct machine setup, safe operation, and troubleshooting.
- Ensure SOPs are followed for all finishing machinery and workflows.
- Maintain quality checks processes prior to dispatch.
- Dispatch & Logistics
- Oversee operation in the dispatch department.
- Maintain dispatch area organisation, stock levels of packaging materials, and loading bay safety.
- Quality Control
- Conduct regular quality checks across print, finishing, and packing stages.
- Ensure errors are minimised, documented, and investigated.
- Support continuous improvement efforts to enhance accuracy and reduce waste.
- Health & Safety
- Maintain a safe working environment across all production areas.
- Ensure equipment is operated safely and staff comply with H&S, PPE, and manual handling procedures.
- Report and log incidents, near‑misses, and equipment issues.
- Ensure nightshift staff are trained and capable of emergency response procedures.
- Reporting & Communication
- Complete shift reports: production output, downtime, quality issues, staffing, and job status.
- Ensure clear communication between nightshift and dayshift teams.
- Raise operational issues and improvement opportunities to management.
- Contribution to Key Business Indicators
- On‑Time Delivery Percentage.
- Nightshift Production productivity.
- Machine Uptime and Downtime Tracking.
- Waste and reprint Percentage.
- Stock system accuracy.
- Customer Returns and Quality Complaints attributable to nightshift.
- Continuous Improvement
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, reduce waste, and enhance quality.
- Apply lean principles and support 5S and process‑improvement initiatives.
- Review and recommend new technology or equipment upgrades where beneficial.
- Compliance & Documentation
- Maintain accurate production, maintenance, and quality records.
- Ensure compliance with SOPs, quality standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Support audit activity and continuous compliance monitoring.

- A good understanding of print and finishing machinery processes.
