Salary: £25,300 FTE

Hours: 22.5 - 30 hours per week (including regular weekend working)

We are looking for a People and Culture Assistant to join our team and play a key role in supporting both our reception service and People and Culture function. At The Prince of Wales Hospice, we provide specialist palliative care in a supportive and respectful environment. Our 14-bed inpatient unit, located just minutes from Junction 32 of the M62 in Pontefract, also offers outpatient and community services, including a successful Lymphoedema clinic.

About The Role

This is a varied and hands-on role where you will work closely with our Volunteers Coordinator to maintain a professional and welcoming reception service through the support and organisation of reception volunteers. You will manage rotas, provide guidance and training, and step in to provide reception cover when required (particularly on weekends). Alongside this, you will provide high-quality administrative support across the People and Culture function, ensuring HR systems, records and processes are maintained accurately and confidentially. You will play an important role in supporting both employees and volunteers, helping to create a positive and supportive working environment.

Responsibilities

  • Have experience in administrative or office-based roles
  • Have experience providing customer-facing or reception services
  • Be highly organised, with the ability to plan, coordinate and manage rotas effectively
  • Have excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage professionally and compassionately with a wide range of people
  • Be confident using IT systems, including Microsoft Office and HRIS
  • Have strong attention to detail and the ability to manage confidential information appropriately
  • Be able to prioritise workload and manage competing demands
  • Have a proactive, solutions-focused approach
  • Be willing and able to provide hands-on reception cover during weekends
