Do you believe that everyone can live a meaningful, hopeful life, whatever their mental health? Parkville Care Centre is a 92-bed care home community supporting adults with long-term and complex mental health needs. Our care is built on the recovery model. We’re looking for a Registered Mental Health Nurse who shares our values to help the people we support build on their strengths, regain confidence and take part in community life.

About the role

As our RMN, you will lead clinical care on shift and work in partnership with the people we support. Following the recovery model, you will focus on hope, connection, identity, meaning and empowerment, and support each person towards the goals that matter to them, not only symptom management. You will work 12 hours shifts. Day/Night available.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead the shift, supporting and supervising care and support workers
  • Co‑produce person‑centred, recovery‑focused care plans, risk assessments and relapse prevention plans with each person
  • Use tools such as the Recovery Star to set and review personal goals
  • Administer and review medication safely, including depot injections, and monitor effects and physical health
  • Recognise early warning signs and respond to mental health crises calmly, using positive, least‑restrictive approaches
  • Support people to build daily living skills, routines and independence
  • Help people connect with their local community through education, volunteering, work, leisure and peer support
  • Work with community mental health teams, psychiatrists, GPs, care coordinators and families, including at CPA reviews
  • Make sure care follows the Mental Health Act, Mental Capacity Act and safeguarding procedures
  • Keep accurate, person‑centred records and give clear handovers

About you

  • Registered Mental Health Nurse (RMN) with current, unrestricted NMC registration
  • A genuine belief in recovery and in working alongside people as equal partners
  • Good knowledge of the Mental Health Act, Mental Capacity Act and safeguarding
  • Sound clinical judgement and confidence in risk assessment and crisis management
  • Ability to lead a shift and support a team
  • Excellent communication skills and a warm, non‑judgemental approach
  • Training in de‑escalation and positive behaviour support

Newly qualified RMNs are welcome to apply; full preceptorship support is available.

What we offer

  • Competitive hourly rate of £23.00
  • Paid NMC registration fee and support with revalidation
  • Ongoing training in recovery‑focused practice, de‑escalation and clinical skills
  • Regular clinical supervision and reflective practice
  • Clear progression to Senior Nurse, Clinical Lead or Deputy Manager roles
  • Employee assistance programme and wellbeing support
  • Free DBS check and paid induction

In addition to this vacancy, we are also looking for dedicated colleagues to join our Bank team. Bank staff work flexible shifts across our care homes, helping provide high‑quality care when extra support is needed. This is ideal for anyone seeking flexible hours and the opportunity to work across different locations.

Parkville Care Centre is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of the people we support. The successful candidate will need an enhanced DBS check and satisfactory references. We are an equal opportunities employer and welcome applications from all sections of the community.
