The Premier League Legal Team is looking for a Safeguarding Manager to support the organisation’s expanding activities and ensure safeguarding arrangements remain effective, robust and responsive. The Safeguarding team sits within the Legal department and plays a lead role in delivering the highest standards of care and protection for children and adults at risk, while empowering stakeholders to create safe, inclusive and protective environments across all areas of our work.
Responsibilities
- Providing safeguarding advice and support to stakeholders and promoting safer working practices.
- Proactively identifying and managing safeguarding risks to individuals and the organisation.
- Supporting safe event delivery and implementing controls to prevent harms arising from online content creation and digital engagement.
- Supporting partner safeguarding due diligence processes and ongoing risk management plans.
- Leading the response to allocated safeguarding concerns, complaints, and regulatory matters.
- Supporting quality assurance measures to ensure safeguarding procedures and practices remain effective, and embedding a culture of learning and continuous improvement.
- Providing direction and support to the Safeguarding Champion network, ensuring Champions fulfil their responsibilities effectively.
- Delivering assigned work streams in line with strategic safeguarding objectives, and undertaking other duties as reasonably required.
Qualifications
- A professional background in safeguarding, with substantial experience in preventative work and competency in the management of safeguarding concerns.
- Strong knowledge of online harms with demonstrable experience in prevention work and advising on safeguarding risks in online environments.
- Excellent interpersonal and relationship management skills, with the ability to build credibility, trust and effective working relationships with stakeholders.
- Ability to identify and assess risk and make defensible, evidence‑based decisions using sound professional judgement.
- An understanding of trauma and its impact, informing a sensitive, proportionate approach to safeguarding practice.
- Excellent planning and organisational skills, supporting the flexible management of competing priorities and the timely delivery of high‑quality outputs in a fast‑paced, risk‑responsive environment.
- Strong written communication and report writing skills, together with a high level of IT literacy and experience operating digital systems for the secure and accurate management of safeguarding information.
