The Premier League’s People team are looking for a Talent & Development Manager who will play a key role in delivering and evolving the organisation’s talent management and learning & development strategies. Working closely with the Head of Talent, Recruitment & Development and Senior Learning & Development Manager, this role supports the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of talent and development processes, ensuring they are data-informed, scalable, and aligned to business priorities. This is a hands-on role combining operational delivery with strategic input across performance and potential, talent management processes, career development, and capability building.

All staff liaise closely with their line manager to manage their time appropriately and according to their work and team requirements.

The Role

  • Support the delivery and continuous improvement of the bi-annual talent review process, including preparation, line manager training, and follow-up actions.
  • Support the creation and embedding of performance, leadership and potential frameworks, ensuring consistent and high-quality assessment across the organisation.
  • Partner with People Partners and business stakeholders to drive robust performance and potential conversations.
  • Support with succession planning next steps, focussing on development actions and interventions.
  • Support the development and embedding of clear career pathways across the organisation, enabling employees to understand growth opportunities and encourage internal mobility.
  • Help design and promote internal mobility frameworks, encouraging movement across teams, functions, and career tracks.
  • Use data and insights to identify trends in performance, potential, and mobility, highlighting risks and opportunities for retention and progression.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline and improve talent processes, tools, and governance.

Learning & Development

  • Provide operational support to the Senior Learning & Development Manager on all L&D activity.
  • Support the operational delivery of L&D programmes aligned to organisational capability needs, performance outcomes, and career pathways.
  • Support the Senior L&D Manager translate performance and potential insights into targeted development solutions for key talent segments (e.g. emerging talent, diverse talent).
  • Manage the organisation’s digital learning offering (LMS/LXP), improving engagement and accessibility.
  • Support the Senior Learning & Development Manager to manage the coaching and mentoring portfolio, including vendor management, matching processes, and impact evaluation.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders and external partners to deliver high-quality development solutions.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of learning interventions and their impact on performance and progression.

Other Key Responsibilities

  • Stay up to date with external trends in talent, performance management, and organisational development, bringing new ideas into the organisation.
  • Support change management and communication plans for new or evolving processes.
  • Act as a trusted point of contact for talent and development queries, particularly around performance, potential, and career progression.
  • Support the Head of Talent, Recruitment & Development and Senior Learning & Development Manager in delivering key strategic initiatives.

Role Requirement

  • Demonstrable experience within in a talent management and/or learning & development role.
  • Strong understanding of performance and potential frameworks and their practical application.
  • Experience supporting or facilitating talent reviews and calibration processes.
  • Experience delivering or supporting Learning and development programmes.
  • Experience supporting or designing internal mobility and career pathway initiatives.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret and present data clearly.
  • Excellent project management and organisational skills.
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • A continuous improvement mindset with the ability to challenge and evolve existing processes.
  • Experience working with learning platforms and digital learning solutions is desired but not required.
  • Experience managing coaching and mentoring programmes is desired but not required.
  • Familiarity with skills frameworks, job architecture, or career pathing tools is desired but not required.
  • Experience in a fast-paced or matrixed organisation is desired but not required.
