The Premier League IT department are looking for an IT Infrastructure Engineer to join the Technology Operations team. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced engineer who has a passion for supporting and delivering IT services.
Role Overview
The IT Infrastructure Engineer will help support and manage the organisation’s on‑premises and cloud infrastructure, servers, and systems. The role will also participate in project work across the IT department and wider business, act as an escalation point for the ServiceDesk, and engage with the Security and Development teams to support and deliver new solutions.

Hybrid Infrastructure Management
- Implement and maintain on‑premises and cloud infrastructure.
- Integrate on‑premises infrastructure with modern cloud services (print, AV, WiFi).
Network and Connectivity
- Manage network switches and wireless infrastructure.
- Administer network access control, firewalls, routers, and VPNs.
- Monitor performance and troubleshoot network issues.
- Manage internet connectivity and virtual WAN.
- Ensure secure and high‑performance connectivity between multi‑region offices and cloud systems.
Server & Systems Administration
- Install, configure, and maintain virtual servers.
- Implement and configure systems and services.
- Manage server and systems updates and patches.
User Support and Experience Optimisation
- Manage Service Desk escalations and provide second/third‑line support.
- Collect feedback and engage with clients to improve end‑user experience.
- Guide users through adoption and change management.
Software as a Service
- Setup, configure, and manage SaaS solutions.
Backup Solutions
- Implement and maintain backup solutions.
- Test recovery processes regularly and align with RPO/RTO targets.
International and Hub Offices
- Assess the technology requirements for new hub offices.
- Coordinate with service providers to procure and establish the necessary IT infrastructure.
- Configure and support network, workstation, and AV/VC equipment.
Monitoring, Reporting, Optimisation
- Use tools to monitor and report uptime, performance, and resource usage.
- Proactively resolve issues before they impact users or business operations.
Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity
- Develop and maintain DR and BCP strategies.
- Run periodic tests to ensure readiness.
IT Asset and Configuration Management
- Track hardware and software inventory.
- Manage configuration changes and document systems.
Role Requirements
- Must be able to demonstrate relevant experience and skills in the following technologies: Azure; Entra ID, virtual servers, backup, enterprise applications, logic apps, automation.
- Networking: Windows, Azure, Cisco Meraki, Cisco ISE.
- Experience of implementing and managing cloud and hybrid solutions.
- Excellent analytical and creative problem‑solving skills.
- Hands‑on and remote troubleshooting skills.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to interact well with people at all levels.
- Well organised and able to effectively prioritise and execute tasks in a high‑pressure environment.
- A team player who enjoys working in a collaborative environment.
- Infrastructure as Code, Azure DevOps and Bicep are desired but not required.
- Experience managing Veeam Backup, SolarWinds, and PaperCut is desired but not required.
- Microsoft Azure Administrator Associate or other Azure certification is desired but not required.
- Cisco Meraki Solutions Specialist (CMSS) or other networking certification is desired but not required.
- Cisco Certified Specialist – Security Identity Management Implementation certification is desired but not required.
