Premier League Studios are looking for an experienced Head of IT (Broadcast) to lead the IT team at their new production facility in West London. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is passionate about delivering critical broadcast and business IT services in a fast-paced and automation led environment.
The Head of IT (Broadcast) will manage a team of people and be responsible for the design, configuration, support, management and security of a comprehensive on-premise and cloud IP network, infrastructure and services.
They will be responsible for strategic planning, day to day operations, delivery of new services, and capacity planning to ensure the broadcast and business IT infrastructure and support teams meet current and future production and engineering requirements.
The Head of IT (Broadcast) will work closely with wider Premier League Studios technology colleagues and Premier League IT teams and engage with colleagues across the business.

The role
Duties include but are not limited to:
- Manage, lead, and develop the Premier League Studios IT Infrastructure Team
- Design and configure SMPTE ST 2110-compliant network solutions for live and recorded media workflows
- Manage Precision Time Protocol (PTP) synchronisation across broadcast systems, ensuring accurate timing and synchronization
- Responsible for on-premises Broadcast and corporate IT infrastructure, systems, security and services.
- Monitor and optimise high-bandwidth, low-latency media networks, addressing issues related to multicast, Quality of Service (QoS), and redundancy protocols
- Assist in development of future cloud workflows, security and services
- Support and troubleshoot ST 2110 media networks utilising Arista network switches, including configuration and maintenance of Arista CloudVision and related tools
- Develop, implement, and maintain Premier League Studios IT infrastructure policies and standards
- Ensure ITSM systems are maintained and adapted to business needs
- Ensure business and industry best practices are followed
- Maintain and develop Disaster Recovery plans
- Provide technical guidance across Broadcast IT and input to the IT strategy
- Manage and deliver Broadcast IT projects, engage and communicate with stakeholders
- Manage team workloads, priorities, and escalations
- Provide technical leadership in response to service impacting issues
- Maintain comprehensive documentation of system configurations, network diagrams, and standard operating procedures.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate broadcast equipment into IP-based workflows
- Stay abreast of emerging technologies and industry standards to recommend and implement improvements to existing systems.
- Manage suppliers, SLA\’s, contracts, and tender processes
- Monitor and report service availability
- Plan and manage the Premier League Studios Broadcast IT infrastructure budget
- Work with DOT to build on-going Broadcast IT strategy
Requirements for the role
- Proven experience working in a similar Broadcast IT management role
- Team management, development, and recruitment experience
- Experience with network monitoring and management tools
- Familiarity with cloud-based broadcast solutions and virtualisation technologies
- Ability to manage, lead, and prioritise tasks in a high-pressure environment
- Project management and stakeholder management experience
- Experience managing budgets and hardware lifecycles
- Strong verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to translate technical language to non-technical people
- Experience implementing Broadcast IT upgrades and refreshes
- Hands on and remote technical troubleshooting skills
- Must be able to demonstrate experience and skills in the following technologies:
- MS Entra, Office 365; Teams, Exchange, SharePoint, Security, Compliance
- vSphere, VMware, Dell Powerscale NAS, servers, applications, backups, automation
- Arista (ACE preferred) & Brocade switches, Meinberg PTP
- Jamf enterprise management
- Office 365; Teams, Exchange, SharePoint, Security, Compliance
- Crowdstrike endpoint security, Fortinet Firewalls
