Role: Costs Draftsperson - Litigation Costs

Location: Leeds / Hybrid

Salary: £40,000 - £55,000 per annum, depending on experience

Work Structure: Baased at Leeds office with flexible working from home.

The Opportunity

This is an excellent opportunity for a Costs Draftsperson with approximately 2 - 4 years' experience to join a respected and growing legal costs practice. You will prepare costs documentation across a broad range of litigation matters, including complex and high-value cases, while working alongside experienced costs professionals.

The position sits exclusively within the Litigation Costs team and will not involve Court of Protection costs work. The successful candidate will be given meaningful responsibility, ongoing technical support and the opportunity to build a long-term career within legal costs.

Key Responsibilities

• Preparing traditional and electronic bills of costs across a varied litigation caseload
• Drafting costs budgets and statements of costs
• Reviewing client files and extracting the information required for accurate bill preparation
• Working across matters that may include clinical negligence, serious personal injury, commercial litigation, professional negligence, property litigation and contentious probate
• Assisting with Points of Dispute and Replies, depending on experience
• Supporting costs budgeting and negotiation work
• Advising internal and external clients on costs recovery and procedural requirements
• Managing deadlines while maintaining consistently high standards of accuracy\
• Building strong working relationships and helping to achieve effective, proportionate and commercially sound outcomes

What we’re looking for

• Approximately 2 - 4 years' experience in legal costs, although relevant applications outside this range will be considered
• Practical experience preparing bills of costs within litigation matters
• A sound understanding of civil costs procedures and the relevant rules
• Strong attention to detail, organisation and confidence reviewing complex files
• A commercial, client-focused approach with clear written and verbal communication skills
• The ability to work independently and collaboratively, with an interest in long-term progression within legal costs
