The Portland Hospital for Women and Children is the only private hospital in the UK dedicated to the health care of women and children, caring for more than 40,000 children each year.
Our pharmacy department supports a wide range of hospital units – including PICU, maternity, surgical, urgent care, women’s health and paediatrics – and has a high volume of inpatient and outpatient requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Line manage a team of 4–5 pharmacy technicians and pharmacy assistants, ensuring effective delivery of core operations, including dispensary, purchasing, stock control and medicines distribution.
- Collaborate with the Pharmacy Leadership team to support service development, contribute to workforce planning and utilise KPIs, audit and financial data to drive continuous improvement.
- Provide education and training to junior staff and oversee quality assurance processes.
- Support pharmacy governance, policy development and adherence to regulatory standards.
Qualifications and Experience
- BTEC / NVQ Level 3 qualification in Pharmaceutical Science / Pharmacy Service Skills (or equivalent) and registration with the GPHC.
- ACPT accreditation.
- Demonstrated experience working as a registered pharmacy technician in a hospital pharmacy setting.
- Experience supervising and training junior colleagues.
- Strong leadership, communication and organisational skills.
