We’re seeking a driver’s mate/warehouse operative to work at our Wimborne Depot from now until September 26th. As a dedicated member of the Distribution team, you’ll be working both in the warehouse and out on the road as a driver’s mate. In the warehouse, you’ll play a crucial role in ensuring customer orders are completed accurately and in a timely manner while maintaining St Austell Brewery's fantastic reputation across the South West.

As a driver’s mate, you’ll be responsible for supporting the delivery of goods to our customers in a safe and timely manner. A keen eye for detail and a passion for delivering an exceptional level of service will ensure goods are kept in pristine condition every step of the way. The distribution function forms an integral part of St Austell Brewery, with reliability being a priority.

About you:

  • A full driving licence (car) is essential
  • A counterbalance forklift licence would be ideal but isn’t a 'must have'
  • Previous delivery experience is useful, especially in a multi-drop environment
  • A positive 'can do' approach to all tasks
  • Strong verbal and communication skills
  • You will be delivering kegs with an average weight of 63kg, so manual handling experience is preferable to ensure safe and appropriate movement of heavy goods.

What we offer in return:

  • 25 days’ annual leave (plus bank holidays). Pro rata depending on length of employment
  • 30% discount on food & drink and 50% discount on accommodation
  • Fantastic training & career development opportunities
  • Discounted membership with local businesses

Additional info:

  • The role is for a fixed term until 26th September 2024.
  • Hours - 34 hours per week worked across 3 days between Tuesday - Thursday.
  • Work pattern when in the warehouse is between 08.00 - 17.00
  • Work pattern when out on the road is between 07.00 - 16.00
  • Additional hours may be available.
  • Please be aware that the FE1 bus service will cease 23rd May, so please don’t rely on this to get to and from the depot.

St Austell Brewery is an Equal Opportunities employer, and we positively encourage applications from suitably qualified and eligible candidates, regardless of age, sex, race, disability, sexual orientation, gender reassignment, religion or belief, marital/civil partnership status, or pregnancy and maternity. We also welcome requests for flexible working.

Early applications are encouraged as we’ll review applications throughout the recruitment process and reserve the right to close the advert at any time.

Please note that we politely request no contact from recruitment agencies or media sales. Speculative CVs from recruitment agencies won’t be accepted, nor the fees associated with them.
