Company Description

The PSA is the UK’s leading association for the study and teaching of politics, with an international membership of academics, researchers, practitioners, policymakers, students and members of the school community.

Role Description

This is a varied role at the heart of the PSA’s membership and programmes work. The successful candidate will be the principal contact for our members, overseeing membership registrations and renewals, responding to enquiries, maintaining our CRM and helping to ensure members receive a high-quality experience throughout their relationship with the PSA.

The role also provides support to the PSA’s 48 Specialist Groups and member networks, including managing enquiries, supporting groups with their website and CRM access, helping new groups get established, and assisting with communications and member data.

Alongside membership activity, you will support a range of PSA programmes and events, including our prizes, member initiatives and our Annual International Conference. Our 2027 conference will take place at the University of Hull from 22–24 March and is expected to welcome around 800–1,000 delegates. You will play an active role in conference preparation and delivery, including delegate communications, registration data, exhibitor communications, badges, logistics and on-site support.

Personal Specification

We are looking for someone who is highly organised, detail-focused and comfortable juggling competing priorities, with excellent written and verbal communication skills and a friendly, professional approach. You should be confident using digital systems, including CRM and website content management systems, and have experience providing excellent administrative and organisational support. Experience within a membership organisation or learned society, event or project administration, financial processing, Oomi CRM, WordPress or Canva would be advantageous.

This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working with people, takes initiative and wants a varied role within a small organisation where they can get involved across membership, events and programmes.

Applicants must have the right to work in the UK. If you would like an informal conversation about the role before applying, please contact [emailprotected]

You can access a full job description and person specification here .

Studies indicate that women and people from other historically marginalised groups are less likely to apply to jobs unless they meet every single criteria. If you’re excited about this role but your past experience doesn’t perfectly fit our essential criteria, please do not be discouraged from applying. We are keen to recruit the right person for the role and welcome applications from those who have transferable skills.
