Support Grade Band 1 SGB1

Hours of Work: Full-Time
Location: Across Northern Ireland, although a significant number of roles are based in the Greater Belfast area

Job Background:

As a Support Grade Band 1, you will be responsible for providing a high quality, efficient and effective logistical support service to internal and external customers. The specific duties you will undertake will vary depending on the operational requirements of the department to which you are assigned.

Hours of Work: Monday – Friday 37 working hours per week.

  • Specific roles may include alternative start and finish times and/or requirement to be flexible with hours of work (specific to role when appointed).
  • On call may be required (specific to role when appointed).

Salary: £26,449 – £28,094 plus £1365 environmental allowance.

Additional Allowances, if applicable, will be applied in accordance with the role undertaken.

Main Activities:

The main duties and responsibilities associated with the role may include the following:

  • Using a range of computer systems to action tasks and fulfil role requirements.
  • Dealing with electronic and telephone queries from internal and external customers (including the public), whilst responding appropriately, professionally and specifically to customer needs.
  • Preparing paperwork for checking by a manager and, in some cases, carrying out initial checks in a timely and comprehensive manner.
  • Achieving and delivering results within deadlines.
  • Referring complex telephone/written queries to an appropriate manager.
  • General administration duties to include job requests and ordering of supplies.
  • Manual Handling/lifting duties.
  • Any other duties commensurate with the grade and as required by the nature of the role.

  • Stores (Supplies)
  • Stores (Equipment to include body armour, personal protection weapons, belt kits, ammunition, baton rounds, pyrotechnics and CS gas)

  • Business Support/Property Management
  • Waste Management (Incinerator)
  • Events Logistics

Essential Qualifications

  • No formal qualifications required.
  • Essential Skills and Experience
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Practical experience of following instructions and interpreting information to respond to and resolve problems and make informed decisions.
  • Experience of delivering a good quality customer service.
  • Experience of working collaboratively with others to meet objectives.

Essential Other

  • IT literate specifically in the use of the Microsoft Office suite (including MS Word, MS PowerPoint, MS Excel and MS Outlook).
  • The successful candidates must have access to a form of transport which will enable them to fulfil the responsibilities of the job in full.

Desirable Qualifications

In order to be considered for specific roles you will be required to have the following qualifications:

  • Valid forklift qualification/proficiency.
  • Valid Reach qualification/proficiency.
  • Valid Electric Pallet Truck qualification/proficiency.
  • Valid driving licence which includes Category C1 (and D1 where role requires).

Additional Information:

Candidates, upon appointment, dependent on role assigned to, will be required to successfully complete specific courses/assessments such as:

  • Driving Assessment to obtain Police Driver Card.
  • Manual Handling course.
  • Safe handling of firearms and pyrotechnics.

Shortlisting will be carried out based on essential criteria. Please note in some instances, for example, where there is a high volume of applicants, desirable criteria may be assessed.
