Are you a passionate and nurturing early years professional ready to take the lead in creating a calm, caring, and stimulating environment for babies? We are looking for a dedicated Baby Room Leader to join our close-knit team and provide the very best start in life for the youngest children in our care.
About us
We are a warm, family-centered nursery committed to creating a supportive, respectful, and reflective environment for children, families, and staff. The baby room is at the heart of our setting; it is the first experience families have with us, and we take pride in building trusting, positive relationships from day one. You will be the welcoming face of the nursery, helping each child and parent feel safe, valued, and part of our community.
The role
- Lead a small, nurturing baby room for up to six babies, ensuring the highest standard of care and learning.
- Work closely with the leaders of two other rooms to ensure smooth transitions and shared best practices across the setting.
- Provide a warm, settling-in experience for new families, creating strong bonds with both babies and parents built on trust and communication.
- Plan and deliver age-appropriate experiences in line with the EYFS, supporting each baby's individual development.
- Maintain a safe, inclusive, and stimulating environment, ensuring allergy awareness, hygiene, and health standards are met at all times.
- Be fully pediatric first-aid trained and lead by example in implementing safe and caring practice.
- Support, guide, and motivate your team, fostering a nurturing, positive atmosphere for both staff and children.
- Communicate effectively with parents, carers, and colleagues, providing regular updates and reassurance.
What we are looking for
- A minimum Level 3 qualification in Early Years.
- Proven experience working with babies (0–2 years) in a nursery or early years setting, ideally in a leadership or senior practitioner role.
- Strong knowledge of EYFS, safeguarding, allergy awareness, and best practice in baby care and early development.
- Paediatric first aid qualification (essential).
- A naturally caring, calm, and patient approach. Someone who builds trust with ease and takes pride in their practice.
- Excellent communication, organisation and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate across rooms and contribute to the wider nursery team.
Benefits
- Full-time position in a small, nurturing room with only six babies.
- A supportive environment where your leadership and ideas are valued.
- Additional leave and company pension.
- Health & wellbeing program and opportunities for ongoing professional development.
- Chance to make a lasting impact as the first person that families meet during their nursery journey.
- Free staff snacks and refreshments in staff area.
- Birthday off.
- Flexibility in hours when needed.
- Annual Christmas celebration.
- Termly team events.
- Employee bonus structure.
Salary: £26,000–£32,000 per annum (dependent on experience and qualifications).
Why join us?
This is a wonderful opportunity for a caring and confident leader to take ownership of the baby room and make it their own. If you are someone who leads with warmth, reflects on your practice, and wants to nurture both children and colleagues, we would love to hear from you. You will work alongside a dedicated team and supportive management, with the freedom to shape your role and grow as our nursery continues to develop.
