We're recruiting on behalf of our client, a bank based in Bermuda, for an experienced Head of Internal Audit to lead and oversee their internal audit function.
This is a senior leadership position responsible for providing independent assurance to the Board Audit Committee and Executive Management on the effectiveness of the Bank's governance, risk management and internal control framework.
The successful candidate will develop and deliver a comprehensive risk-based internal audit programme across financial, operational, regulatory and technology-related areas. They will also provide insight on emerging risks, regulatory developments, operational resilience, cybersecurity, digital banking and wider business transformation initiatives.
The role requires an experienced banking or financial services audit professional who can operate independently, influence at Board and Executive level, and provide effective leadership to the internal audit function.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and deliver the annual risk-based internal audit plan.
- Provide assurance across governance, risk management, internal controls and regulatory compliance.
- Lead financial, operational, regulatory and technology-related audits.
- Assess key business risks, identify control weaknesses and recommend improvements.
- Provide audit oversight across digital banking, cybersecurity, payments and operational resilience.
- Monitor audit findings, remediation plans and corrective actions.
- Prepare and present audit reports to the Board Audit Committee and Executive Management.
- Advise senior stakeholders on emerging risks, regulatory change and business transformation.
- Liaise with external auditors, regulators, Risk and Compliance.
