Carrington West are assisting their local authority client based in the Southwest of England in the search for a Principal Project Manager (Local Plan - Policy) to join the Town Planning, Planning Policy Team. This role will be offered on an initial 6‑month contract basis.

The Council is focused on delivering the best possible outcomes for its communities and is working towards the Regulation 19 consultation. This is a pivotal role responsible for overseeing all aspects of project management, from initiation to completion, to ensure it meets the objectives and scope with particular focus on the garden communities project and the place agenda.

Responsibilities

  • Effectively coordinate the monitoring and reporting of the programme of works.
  • Oversee the end‑to‑end delivery of projects/workstreams, ensuring they are delivered on time and within cost.
  • Lead and coordinate the activities of projects, ensuring that all members of the project teams actively participate and understand their responsibilities to undertake tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Write and maintain project plans, carrying out critical path analysis, ensuring key tasks are identified and completed in order.

Qualifications

  • Having a Planning Degree or equivalent Planning or Project Management qualification and full membership of the Royal Town Planning Institute is beneficial, although not mandatory.
  • Experience in project management within local government or planning policy is preferred.

Compensation

Carrington West Pay Rate - £50-£60 per hour (Depending on experience)
