Our client is a Local Authority based in Devon and they are seeking a Principal Planning Officer to join them for a 12‑month contract role and carry out a full range of development management functions.
Responsibilities
- You will manage complex pre‑application negotiations and subsequent planning applications for major and strategic development in the Borough.
- You will assist the Team Leader in managing the statutory Development Management functions, prepare reports and recommendations, prepare appeal statements, and give evidence to public hearings/inquiries.
Qualifications
- To apply you will need a relevant planning degree, extensive development management experience and an excellent knowledge of UK planning regulations and guidance; ideally you will be professionally accredited.
- You will need to have good leadership and negotiation skills and be comfortable dealing with external organisations and have extensive experience of presenting at committee.
- Experience of assessing factors such as Affordable Housing, Daylight and Sunlight and other micro climate issues is also required.
