Lead and shape a high-performing Planning Service within a leading Local Authority. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced planning manager to oversee Development Management, Planning Policy, Enforcement and Minerals & Waste functions while supporting the delivery of strategic service objectives.
Key responsibilities:
- Manage and lead a multidisciplinary planning team, providing guidance, mentoring and support
- Oversee Development Management processes including applications, appeals, enforcement and pre-application advice
- Support the delivery and review of the Minerals and Waste Local Plan
- Manage performance, resources and workloads to ensure an effective planning service
- Prepare committee reports, provide strategic advice and deputise for the Head of Planning when required
Requirements:
- Significant Local Authority planning experience at a senior management level
- Strong knowledge of Development Management, Planning Policy and enforcement processes
- Experience leading and developing professional planning teams
- Confidence presenting reports and representing the council at appeals and hearings
- Ability to build strong relationships with Members, developers and key stakeholders
