A Local Authority in the North East is looking to appoint an experienced Planning Policy professional to support the preparation of its emerging Local Plan on an initial 6‑month contract basis, with strong potential for extension. This is an exciting opportunity to join the authority at a pivotal stage of plan‑making as work progresses on a full Local Plan review through to the 2040s. The team is now moving into early policy drafting and evidence gathering ahead of upcoming Regulation 18 consultation work.
Responsibilities
- Supporting the preparation and progression of the emerging Local Plan
- Assisting with policy drafting and evidence base production
- Contributing towards Regulation 18 consultation preparation
- Working on strategic growth, regeneration, employment delivery and town centre renewal priorities
- Liaising with internal departments, stakeholders and external consultants where required
- Supporting the delivery of a long‑term planning vision for the borough through to the 2040s
