Base Location: For this role, we require successful applicants to be based from one of our Scottish locations and you'll be expected to spend 50% of your working week in the office – Perth, Glasgow, Inverness or Aberdeen.
Salary: £58,100 - £87,100 + car allowance + performance-related bonus + a range of benefits to support your finances, wellbeing and family.

The role: This is a great opportunity to lead a supportive and collaborative team delivering high profile onshore consents across the largest energy infrastructure projects in Scotland. You will play a key role in influencing site selection and optioneering processes, overseeing complex EIA delivery and securing national scale consents through the relevant planning and Electricity consents regimes. You will shape positive outcomes that balance environmental responsibility, community engagement and project delivery, helping to build a more sustainable energy future and ensuring long term energy security across the country.
In addition, you will join the current ‘In-house Planning Team of the year’ as recognised by the RTPI for our critical role in delivering critical national infrastructure in a responsible way.
- Lead, coach and support a team of consenting professionals, creating an inclusive environment where people feel valued, confident and able to grow.
- Coordinate consenting activity across projects, ensuring consistent, high-quality delivery that aligns with programme priorities.
- Ensure resources are effectively deployed for environmental optioneering, assessment and the successful delivery of all necessary statutory consents (including s37, Planning Permission, designated sites and environmental consents) in accordance with company policies and procedures and external statutory regulations.
- Provide clear, practical guidance on planning and environmental requirements, supporting your team to navigate complex challenges.
- Build positive relationships with stakeholders, including planning authorities, consultees and communities, encouraging open and respectful dialogue.
- Drive continuous improvement by sharing learning, strengthening processes and ensuring environmental and regulatory standards are embedded throughout delivery.
You have:
- Experience leading or supporting a team, with a coaching style that helps others develop and succeed.
- Strong knowledge of environmental or planning legislation within infrastructure or energy projects.
- A collaborative approach, with confidence working across multidisciplinary teams and engaging a wide range of stakeholders.
- The ability to balance detail with the bigger picture, making thoughtful, well-informed decisions in a fast-moving environment.
- A degree in an environmental or planning discipline (or equivalent experience), with professional membership.
