Senior Planning Officer (Enforcement)
Chichester District is a highly attractive place to live and work, home to a number of historic towns and villages, surrounded by beautiful countryside and coastal environments. Centred on the historic cathedral city of Chichester, it is a large district stretching from the south coast to the Surrey border and includes a large part of the South Downs National Park and the Chichester Harbour National Landscape.
Despite the rural location of Chichester District, we are a busy planning service dealing with a varied range of development management and enforcement work. We have three application teams; a separate enforcement team; and a central administration team.
We are looking to appoint a motivated and enthusiastic individual to deal with a varied case load of enforcement investigations within our highly valued and high‑profile enforcement team. You will be responsible for establishing whether a breach of planning control has occurred, assisting the Council to decide an appropriate course of action to resolve breaches of planning control and taking responsibility for any pursuant appeal or court work.
We routinely make use of the wide enforcement powers available to the Council and so this is a great opportunity to gain broad experience. You must be positive, well organised, committed to excellent customer care and keen to work as part of a team. There will be opportunities to mentor junior colleagues, and the post holder will be supported to develop their own skills and knowledge.
For an informal discussion please contact Fjola Stevens (Divisional Manager, Development Management) on 01243 534557 or Andrew George (Planning Enforcement Development Manager) on 01243 521607.
