We are currently recruiting for a Technical Director to join a multidisciplinary planning, design and environmental consultancy in Bristol. This Technical Director role is a senior leadership appointment, responsible for technical governance, project delivery and team leadership across a diverse portfolio of UK development projects. The successful Technical Director will provide expert technical oversight, ensuring high standards across planning-led workstreams. This is an excellent opportunity for an established Technical Director, or an Associate Director ready to step up, to play a key role in a growing regional office.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and oversee technical delivery on complex, multi-disciplinary projects as Technical Director
- Act as technical authority and point of escalation across project teams
- Ensure compliance with UK planning policy, environmental legislation and best practice
- Support bids, fee proposals and client relationship management
- Mentor, manage and develop senior and mid-level staff
- Contribute to business planning and growth of the Bristol office
Candidate Requirements
- Demonstrable experience at Director level within a UK consultancy
- Proven track record of delivering technically complex projects through the UK planning system
- Experience leading multi-disciplinary teams and managing technical risk
- Excellent client-facing and stakeholder engagement skills
- RTPI Chartered status
