The Planet Group have recently been engaged by a market leading manufacturer of high-tech sensors who are looking for a Contract Systems Engineer to join the team on an initial 6-month contract based in Plymouth. The project will likely extend long term, and we would like to have this operating on a hybrid pattern with 2 days per week onsite to support business needs.
Key activities:
- Requirements generation and management.
- Development of systems verification procedures and completion of verification test activities.
- Interface with stakeholders on many factors covering Systems, Software, Electrical & Mechanical engineering.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Providing inputs to project planning, estimations and progress reporting.
- Systems requirements definition, management and validation.
- Systems integration – real-time embedded systems, hardware/software.
- Systems verification – test procedure development, requirements to test traceability, unit-based testing.
- Understanding hardware and embedded software architectures and implementations, and the interfaces between each other.
- Be aware of internal (board/board or processor/peripheral) and external (unit to unit/network) data bus standards.
- Logical and innovative problem-solving skills that can span systems/software/hardware.
- Understanding of Industrial, Automotive and Aerospace standards.
Key Requirements:
- Established experience working as a Systems Engineer through the full development life cycle.
- Competence with SYSML management tools such as EA (or Cameo) is preferred.
- Strong understanding of requirement capture.
- Ability to read and interpret schematics.
- Previous experience utilising DOORS (or similar) to manage requirements.
- Experience with version control e.g. SVN, Git.
- Data analysis and algorithm development experience, including use of Matlab.
Desirable Skills:
- Experience or knowledge of solid-state (MEMS) gyroscopes and accelerometers.
- Electrical or software design and development experience.
- Able to use an emulator for on chip debugging.
- Able to use COTS TE (‘scope, bus analysers etc.) in lab environment.
