The MA Creative Dance Education is a globally-oriented postgraduate programme that prepares artists, educators and facilitators to work across a wide range of dance education contexts. The course brings together creative practice, pedagogy, and critical inquiry, supporting students to develop inclusive, responsive and forward-thinking approaches to teaching and learning. With a strong emphasis on curriculum design, participatory practice and real-world application, the programme includes placement-based learning and engagement with diverse communities.
Unit Leader Responsibilities
- Undertake teaching, curriculum delivery, mentoring and assessment within the field of creative dance education (teaching will primarily occur afternoons and evenings until 8:00pm).
- Act as Unit Leader, overseeing the delivery and evaluation of one or more units.
- Support students in developing pedagogical, creative and professional practices across diverse contexts.
- Contribute to an inclusive, responsive and critically engaged learning environment.
- Support the delivery of the mission and values of The Place.
Salary & Contract Terms
The full-time equivalent salary for this position is £45,091 per annum, equating to £18,036 per annum for this part-time role. Salaries are reviewed each August when cost‑of‑living increases are made; no salary changes are made until after successful completion of a probationary period. This is a 12‑month, fixed‑term contract starting on 04 August 2026 and ending 31 July 2027. The position is part‑time (equivalent to 16 hours per week) and includes a one‑hour paid lunch break each day. Working hours will be agreed with the line manager. During the probationary period the notice period is four weeks. Once the period is successfully completed the post holder will be confirmed in the post and the notice period will be one academic term.
