This is a rare opportunity to join as Sous Chef with a clear and structured pathway to Head Chef within 9 months for the right candidate. This opportunity has arisen due to planned internal movement of our current Head Chef. We’re looking for a motivated and talented chef ready to step into leadership, grow within the business, and inspire a team passionate about delivering quality, simple British pub food.
A Sous role at The Village Pub is like no other. We use local suppliers and a lot of love to create our menus, which change regularly to reflect the seasons. Our Senior Chefs are passionate and driven to provide our guests with an unforgettable dining experience — creativity is at the heart of what we do.
Our kitchen is fast-paced and full of energy, which is exactly what we look for in our team members. Come with enthusiasm, your knives, and a bucketful of passion, and we’ll help you develop the rest.
You will assist the Head Chef in the day-to-day running of the kitchen — managing one of the sections, contributing fresh ideas for the menu, overseeing health and safety, ordering, and staff rotas.
We’re seeking a Sous Chef with confidence, creativity, and the ability to support a dynamic team. Knowledge of all areas of the kitchen is essential. We want you to be as passionate about modern British food and sustainability as we are. Previous experience in a similar role is required.
Can you remember who inspired you to be a chef? Can you do this for someone else and share your knowledge with the junior chefs? We run an award-winning apprenticeship programme; as a Sous Chef, you will take an active role in leading, teaching, and inspiring the apprentices.
