The Piece Hall Trust is looking to employ a Duty Manager on a temporary basis to assist with the smooth running of operations during the Live at The Piece Hall Series 2026. We are looking for an individual to take on a 37-hour contract to work alongside our team of established Duty Managers. Reporting to the Head of Operations, the role will largely involve being a key-holder and opening and closing the building.

Whilst on shift, the post holder will be responsible for the cleaning, security and maintenance arrangements across the site. The role will be practical and hands-on as tidying, cleaning, maintenance, and assisting the Events Team during courtyard events are essential parts of the Duty Manager role. You will also be responsible for a team of Venue Wardens who will work alongside you.

The ideal candidate will be someone who has previous managerial experience in a similar setting. However, The Trust would also consider someone who feels ready to step-up into a role with more responsibility. We are looking for someone who is happy to work shifts as the site requires coverage from 7:00am until 12:30am (however, the closing times may differ during the Live at The Piece Hall series due to the live music events).

We welcome applications from keen, organised, resilient, and hard-working individuals. N.B. We expect all Piece Hall staff and volunteers to maintain and demonstrate at all times a very positive and supportive attitude to the organisation and to all colleagues, and we consider this to be the key “behaviour” that is applied to all other requirements of all posts.

Please note: This job description is not exhaustive and amendments and additions may be required in line with future changes in policy, regulation or organisational requirements, it will be reviewed on a regular basis. This role is subject to a basic criminal record check and satisfactory employment references.
