The Phoenix Community Trust

Founding Chief Executive Officer, Phoenix Community Trust

Location – Hybrid, with a national remit across England

Salary – £110,000 per annum

Phoenix Community Trust is entering an exciting new chapter in its development and is seeking its first Chief Executive Officer to lead the organisation through its next phase of growth and impact.

Phoenix Community Trust is being established to create a future where structural racism is dismantled, funding justice is realised, and Global Majority communities hold power and resources to thrive. Through community-led grant-making, capacity building and long-term investment, Phoenix Community Trust aims to help create the conditions in which communities can thrive, lead and shape their own futures.

We stand for equity and community led decisions, and working closely with stakeholders and partners, in this role, you will be central to that.

As our Founding Chief Executive Officer, you will have the rare opportunity to shape the future direction of a nationally significant organisation and help shape a lasting legacy for generations to come.

Created to deliver community-led grant-making, strengthen community infrastructure and address long-standing funding inequities, Phoenix Community Trust is entering a pivotal stage of its development. Strong foundations have been established, an independent Board is in place, and a clear mission, vision and set of values have been defined. We are now seeking an exceptional leader to build upon those foundations and lead the organisation into its next stage of maturity, influence and impact. You will be passionate, ambassadorial and driven for change as well as knowing how an organisation such as this needs to operate for success and sustainability.

This is a unique role requiring both strategic vision and operational excellence. You will lead the development of the organisation, oversee the delivery of ambitious grant-making programmes, build and inspire a high-performing team, cultivate strong relationships with communities, partners and stakeholders, and help create a permanent endowment capable of sustaining impact long into the future.

We are looking for an accomplished and values-led leader with experience of organisational growth, transformation or institution building.

You will bring credibility, judgement and a deep commitment to racial justice, community empowerment and equitable systems change. Most importantly, you will share our belief that lasting change happens when communities are trusted, resourced and empowered to lead.

This is an opportunity to lead one of the most ambitious and innovative community-led funding initiatives in the UK.
