In this role you will lead state policy efforts within the SUPTI, guiding staff and coordinating with Pew departments to advance evidence-based treatment for opioid use disorder. You will monitor policy trends, manage state engagements, and support strategic directions to influence legislation and regulation. You’ll work with researchers, policymakers, and partners to produce actionable insights and high-quality deliverables. This position offers a chance to shape state-level policy with a mission-driven, collaborative team.

Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise state-policy staff to advance legislative and regulatory changes
- Oversee lifecycle of state engagements and report outcomes to leadership and funders
- Monitor national and state policy trends to inform strategy
- Coach staff on government relations, policy analysis, and opioid use disorder treatment knowledge
- Manage state work operations including budgets, contracts, and sub-grants
- Coordinate with government relations and legal for lobbying compliance guidance
- Collaborate with subject-matter experts to integrate research into state work
- Contribute to strategic direction, issue identification, and development of advocacy and communications products
- Represent the project at external meetings to position SUPTI as a thought leader
- Assist with editing documents and convening meetings
- Participate in Pew-wide projects as requested
Key requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience; advanced degree preferred
- Minimum eight years of relevant professional experience with full life cycle project management
- Experience supervising staff and providing coaching and performance development
- Strong strategic thinking, adaptability, attention to detail, and sound judgment
- Proven ability to advance complex projects in a fast-paced, collaborative environment
- Excellent verbal, presentation, facilitation, and written communication skills
- Experience convening policymakers, practitioners, researchers, and stakeholders
- Ability to build relationships and move consensus toward outcomes
