We offer a dignified service to all pets through our individual or communal cremation options, unique caskets and urns, pet keepsakes range and home collection service. Our equine and pet cremation services care for all pets, great and small, with the respect that they deserve.

We support vet practices around the UK to arrange cremation for their clients, as well as remain present in our local communities with the option to visit each of our crematoria, the opportunity to reflect in memorial gardens or make use of a private Remembrance Room.

The Role: Are you an inspiring leader with a passion for service excellence, team culture and purposeful work? Whitley Brook Pet & Equine Crematorium, part of Anima Care UK, is seeking a General Manager to lead our dedicated team in delivering compassionate, ethical and exceptional aftercare services for veterinary partners and pet owners. You will also be responsible for managing the Rossendale Pet Cemetery & Memorial Gardens site.

As our General Manager, you will combine commercial strength with operational excellence—ensuring our crematoria operates to the highest standards of quality, culture, compliance and financial performance. This is a unique opportunity to guide a team that makes a meaningful difference every day.

What You’ll Do:

  • Own the full site P&L, including budgeting, forecasting and financial performance.
  • Analyse revenue and cost drivers to maximise profitability while maintaining outstanding service quality.
  • Lead or support commercial conversations with veterinary practices, bringing strong negotiation and relationship‑building skills.
  • Ensure the accurate reporting of financial and performance metrics.

People & Culture

  • Lead, motivate and develop a high‑performing team rooted in empathy, accountability and continuous improvement.
  • Set clear expectations, conduct performance reviews and support ongoing training and development.
  • Strengthen communication and collaboration across all departments.

Growth & Market Presence

  • Build strong, trust‑based partnerships with veterinary practices, animal charities and community organisations.
  • Lead strategic discussions with veterinary leaders, positioning us as the preferred independent aftercare partner.

Customer & Operational Excellence

  • Ensure every veterinary client and pet owner receives a compassionate, professional experience.
  • Oversee day‑to‑day operations, ensuring service consistency, quality, and timely delivery.
  • Implement and monitor customer‑service KPIs, proactively handling feedback and escalations.

Compliance & Governance

  • Ensure all operations meet legal, environmental and industry‑specific regulations.
  • Maintain high standards in health & safety, risk management and ethical practice.
  • Support audit processes and drive corrective actions where needed.

What You’ll Bring:

  • Proven experience preparing and managing budgets.
  • Strong background in P&L management.
  • Demonstrated leadership capability across commercial, operational, performance and compliance areas.
  • Experience within pet or human crematoria services (not essential—values and leadership matter most).

Package: Salary of £55,000 - £60,000 dependant on experience plus Car Allowance, 25 days annual leave plus Bank Holidays, Company Pension Scheme.
