The Perse School is seeking to appoint a Theatre Administrator to work within the Perse Drama and Theatre Department. This is an exciting opportunity for a proactive and adaptable individual to contribute to the smooth running of the department. The Perse Drama and Theatre Department is a vibrant and ambitious part of the School’s performing arts provision, based in the Peter Hall Performing Arts Centre.
The department offers pupils opportunities to develop as performers, theatre-makers, technicians, designers and creative collaborators, supported by excellent facilities including a flexible auditorium, rehearsal and exhibition spaces, dressing rooms, props and wardrobe stores, workshop and production areas.
The Theatre Administrator has oversight of the administrative functions of the Performing Arts Centre (PAC), Theatre Productions and Perse Academy of Performing Arts (PAPA). The role includes maintaining accurate records, registers, booking information, parent communications, event documentation and other supporting administrative processes. The post holder will have strong organisational skills with an ability to work independently and problem-solve. Attention to detail and accurate communication are required. Time management and prioritisation of work will be required whilst working across many aspects of the Theatre and PAC provision.
Key Responsibilities- Assist with the organisation, development and successful delivery of PAC events, school events and drama productions, and the Perse Academy of Performing Arts.
- Maintain the PAC calendar on SharePoint.
- Liaising closely with the director and production manager, responsibility for administrative elements of school productions.
- Assist with sourcing props and costumes for school productions.
- Publish production rehearsal schedules to pupils and parents.
- Create PersePosts for all school production communications.
- Assist with all Perse Theatre and PAPA social media accounts.
- Produce and publish theatre and PAPA newsletters.
- Act as Front of House Manager for some events in the PAC providing a high-quality front of-house service (training will be provided).
- Manage the school’s online box office for Theatre events including responding to enquiries regarding tickets.
- Strong organisational and administrative skills, ability to plan and prioritise, whilst multi-tasking across a range of areas of responsibility.
- ICT skills.
- Problem solving skills and a ‘solution’ based approach to complex situations.
- Initiative, using judgement of when to inform senior staff of issues arising.
- Proactive, can-do attitude and willingness to learn new skills.
- Experience working with young people and empathy for pupils, parents, staff and the community.
- Experience of working in venues, either front or back of house.
- Respects and values the different experiences, ideas and backgrounds others can bring to work.
- Experience of administration in a busy environment.
- Strong written communication and proofreading skills.
- Willingness to work occasional evenings and weekends.
- Experience in Arts Administration.
- A Level (or equivalent) education.
- Degree and relevant administrative qualifications are desirable.
