Who Are We? The Percy Hedley Foundation is one of the largest regional charities supporting people with a range of learning and physical needs. We take a person‑centred, flexible approach to the care and support we provide. We have five sites providing specialist education, adult day services, residential care and independent supported living to our service users. Our sites are based in Forest Hall, Killingworth, Jesmond, Newcastle City Centre and North Shields. Hedley’s Horizons is a busy, vibrant and varied environment that supports disabled adults with cerebral palsy, communication and sensory impairments and complex learning needs including those with Autism Spectrum Conditions. We offer a choice of activities that meet people's aspirations, needs and preferences, thus offering a very individual programme with support from a highly skilled and dedicated staff team.
The Role: Please note we do not offer sponsorship, applicants must have the right to work in the UK. Hedley’s Horizons is part of Adult Services which support individuals to participate in a variety of activities and enterprise sessions. It offers a busy, vibrant, and varied environment that supports disabled adults with autism, communication and sensory impairments and complex needs. On offer is a wide choice of activities that meet people's aspirations, needs and preferences, thus offering a very individual programme with support from a highly skilled and dedicated team. We are looking to recruit Support Workers to be based at our Forest Hall site (on occasion you may need to work at the other sites in Killingworth and North Shields). The role will involve working full days. For part‑time applicants the days would be agreed depending on service requirements.
- Monday 8.45 – 4.15pm
- Tuesday 8.45 – 4.00pm
- Wednesday 8.45 – 4.00pm (6.00pm once every 4 weeks)
- Thursday 8.45 – 4.00pm
- Friday 8.45 – 4.00pm

Flexibility with an ability to adapt and respond to evolving situations is an important skill for our team that helps us maintain the highest level of care and support. This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and therefore applicants should be aware that the post will only be offered to successful candidates subject to an Enhanced DBS and barring checks as well as other employment clearances such as referencing in line with our regulator’s legislation requirements. Please note that this role is classed as regulated activity as it involves working directly with children and/or vulnerable adults.
