Marketing Lead – Independent Restaurant Group
Key details
- Location: Oxford, Binsey Village. Parking available.
- Hours: 25–30 hours per week, office-based, with flexibility over working hours.
- Salary: £35,000 full-time equivalent, pro rata for agreed hours.
- Reporting to: Owner / Managing Director.
About the role
We’re looking for a creative, organised and hands-on Marketing Lead to help more people discover—and keep coming back to—our independent restaurants.
You’ll lead marketing for The Perch Inn, Mamma Mia in Summertown and Jericho, and a new restaurant opening in early 2027. Each has its own voice and personality, and you’ll bring that to life through thoughtful, consistent marketing that delivers results.
Weddings and events at The Perch will be a key focus. You’ll showcase the venue, attract relevant enquiries and support the team in turning interest into bookings.
This is a varied role with plenty of scope for ideas, from planning campaigns and writing copy to building local partnerships and supporting our new restaurant launch. You’ll be comfortable thinking ahead and equally happy getting involved in the day-to-day work.
You won’t be expected to produce social media photography and video yourself. A separate Social Media Content Creator will handle content production, while you provide clear briefs, creative direction and a coordinated marketing plan.
What you’ll be doing
Giving each restaurant a clear direction
- Develop a practical marketing plan and calendar for each restaurant.
- Maintain each restaurant’s distinctive voice across websites, emails, social media and printed materials.
- Plan campaigns around seasonal opportunities, menus, events, key dates, our team and restaurant news.
Growing weddings and events at The Perch
- Develop a dedicated marketing plan for weddings, private celebrations, corporate hospitality and other events.
- Showcase the venue through real wedding stories, photography, video and promotional materials, working with the Content Creator and venue team.
- Run targeted campaigns to attract relevant enquiries and support bookings during quieter periods.
- Keep wedding and event listings, brochures and online information up to date.
- Build relationships with suppliers, local businesses and wedding and event partners.
- Track which channels generate enquiries and bookings, using the results to guide future activity.
Delivering campaigns
- Plan and deliver campaigns across email, websites, social media, occasional paid digital advertising, PR, partnerships and in-venue materials.
- Write engaging copy for emails, websites, event listings and press materials.
- Manage our customer database and email marketing so the right messages reach the right audiences.
- Keep websites, Google Business Profiles and booking-platform listings accurate and up to date.
Working with our Content Creator
- Working with the MD, set the social media direction for each brand.
- Provide clear monthly briefs covering menus, events, people, stories and upcoming campaigns.
- Make weddings and events a regular part of The Perch’s content calendar, coordinating opportunities to capture celebrations and venue setups.
- Oversee content calendars, captions and creative ideas.
- Ensure photography and video are ready ahead of launches and seasonal changes.
- Review performance and use the findings to shape future content.
Tracking results and working with our teams
- Monitor how marketing contributes to restaurant bookings, wedding and event enquiries, database growth and sales.
- Share a concise monthly update on results, priorities and upcoming activity.
- Work closely with restaurant managers and the weddings and events team to identify where marketing can make the greatest difference.
Building local connections
- Develop relationships with local hotels, businesses, university departments, suppliers and community groups.
- Identify worthwhile PR, influencer and partnership opportunities.
- Help monitor and respond to reviews and customer feedback.
About you
You’ll have marketing experience in hospitality, food and drink, leisure, retail or another customer-facing, multi-site business.
We’re looking for someone who:
- Combines creative ideas with the ability to deliver effective campaigns.
- Writes exceptionally well and can adapt their style to different brands and audiences.
- Is confident using email marketing platforms, websites, customer databases and digital channels.
- Gives clear, practical briefs to creative colleagues.
- Is organised and comfortable managing several campaigns and venues at once.
- Enjoys working in an independent business, balancing forward planning with hands-on delivery.
- Understands that good marketing goes beyond likes—it brings people through the door.
It would also be useful to have:
- Experience marketing weddings, private events or celebration venues.
- Familiarity with restaurant booking platforms, CRM systems, paid digital advertising or hospitality PR.
- Experience supporting restaurant openings, menu launches, refurbishments or events.
- An understanding of photography and video, with the confidence to give creative direction.
- Knowledge of Oxford and the surrounding area.
Your first six months. We’d like you to establish:
- A clear marketing plan and calendar for each restaurant brand.
- An effective working relationship with our Content Creator.
- Consistent, distinctive communications across the group.
- A focused weddings and events marketing plan for The Perch, supported by engaging content and clear tracking of enquiries and bookings.
- A growing customer database and more effective email marketing.
- Campaigns that support quieter periods, launches and events.
- Straightforward reporting that shows what’s working and where to focus next.
- Stronger connections with local businesses, partners and the wider community.
