We are looking for a Transport Co-Ordinator to support the day to day transport operations within our depot. This role is responsible for delivering the daily transport operational plan, ensuring all activities are carried out safely, legally, and in the most cost effective way.
You will play a key role in coordinating drivers and vehicles, supporting operational efficiency, and ensuring service levels meet both customer expectations and network performance standards. Working in a fast paced logistics environment, you will help ensure operational KPIs and network objectives are consistently achieved.
This role requires strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities while working under pressure.
Key Responsibilities
- Transport Planning & Operations
- Contribute to the effective planning and organisation of vehicles and drivers.
- Ensure efficient transport planning to maximise resource utilisation.
- Dispatch drivers and allocate loads in line with operational plans.
- Brief and debrief drivers to ensure clear communication of operational requirements.
- Vehicle & Compliance Management
- Liaise with company workshops and service providers to ensure vehicle maintenance standards are met.
- Support compliance with relevant transport regulations and operational procedures.
- Customer Communication
- Provide updates to customers regarding collections and deliveries.
- Update customers with delivery details in real time via email or telephone.
- Handle operational queries and elevate issues where required.
- Administration & Systems
- Input data and maintain accurate records using transport and operational systems.
- Produce and manage appropriate documentation relating to transport activities.
- Carry out general administrative tasks including filing and record keeping.
- Manage workload independently while meeting operational deadlines.
Candidate Requirements
- Experience within a complex logistics or transport operation.
- Background in transport planning or transport operations.
- Industry knowledge of distribution, logistics, and supply chain operations.
- Understanding of transport legislation such as driver hours, vehicle weights, and dimensions is desirable.
- Excellent attention to detail and problem solving ability.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise workload effectively.
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast paced environment.
- Flexible attitude towards working hours.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Competent using Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
